PFAG Urges Black Stars To Excel On The Road to Qatar 2022

The Group Stage draw for the CAF Qualification series ahead of the FIFA World Cup, Qatar 2022 has been successfully conducted in Cairo, Egypt.

 

At a plush event held at the Nile Ritz-Carlton Hotel, the 14 winners from the first round of qualifying and the top 26 ranked nations on the continent were drawn into ten groups of four.

 

Ghanaโ€™s Black Stars will begin their quest for a fourth appearance at the Mundial, as they tackle South Africa, Zimbabwe and Ethiopia in Group G of the mini-league format which kick-starts in October this year.

 

The 10 Group winners will progress to the third and final round, which will feature five two-legged play-off ties.

 

Dignitaries from across the world of football were present to grace the occasion. The top brass of Ghana football was also present, with PFAG General Secretary and ex-Black Stars captain Anthony Baffoe, newly appointed Black Stars Coach C.K Akunnor, and GFA Vice President Mark Addo all in attendance.

 

The PFAG salutes CAF and all event organizers and participants for conducting a successful ceremony which sets the stage for what promises to be an exciting road to Qatar 2022!

 

The PFAG stands solidly behind our Black Stars in their quest to earn one of the five CAF slots on offer for FIFAโ€™s showpiece event. We wish the technical team, management and playing body all the best throughout the qualification series. The Association fully expects our Stars to rise above all, and make the nation proud once again by marching all the way to the “World Cup Promised Land”.
