PFAG Pays Final Respects to Raphael Dwamena

The Professional Footballers Association of Ghana (PFAG) has paid its final respects to the late Raphael Dwamena, as the final funeral rites of the ex-Black Stars Striker took place at the Adjirigano Astro Turf on Friday 16th February 2024.

Executive Members of the PFAG and former national team players, including Coach Ibrahim Tanko and Augustine Arhinful were in attendance for the solemn event at which family, friends and well-wishers joined hands to bid a final farewell to our ex-Black Stars marksman.

Raphael Dwamena passed away on the 11th of November last year, after suffering a sudden cardiac arrest while playing for Egnatia FC in an Albanian Superliga fixture against SC Partizani.

Dwamena shot to prominence with his impressive performances for FC Zurich in the Swiss Super League as well as during stints for Levante and Real Zaragoza in the Spanish League.

He was set for a dream move to English Premiership campaigners Brighton and Hove Albion when a heart condition was detected.

Dwamena wore the colours of the senior national team proudly, and was the toast of fans when he netted twice on debut for the Black Stars in a 2019 African Nations Cup Qualifying game versus Ethiopia at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.

The PFAG, as mother body of all professional footballers in the country, is deeply devastated at the demise of our member.

We continue to extend our best wishes to his family and loved ones at this trying moment.

May our Almighty God grant Raphael Dwamena a peaceful rest in HIS heavenly abode.

PFAG: With Them and For Them.
