The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has sanctioned Premier League campaigners AshantiGold SC and Division One League side Inter Allies FC for their involvement in a match-fixing incident recorded at the end of the 2020/2021 Ghana Premier League Season.
The two clubs have been demoted to Division Two, the third tier of professional football in the country, after the GFA’s Disciplinary Committee found them guilty of match manipulation in their Ghana Premier League match week 34 encounter at the Obuasi Len Clay Sports Stadium. AshantiGold SC recorded a 7 – 0 victory over Inter Allies in the said match, and both teams will now start the 2022/2023 season in Division Two.
The GFA’s Disciplinary Committee acting on information from Swis company Sportradar, instituted the investigations into the match and in accordance with its statutes, found the two clubs, some officials and players guilty of the fraudulent act.
