PFAG Commended for Successful “Battle of the Stars” Exhibition Football Fiesta

The Professional Footballers Association of Ghana (PFAG) in conjunction with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), has successfully organized the much anticipated “Battle of the Stars” exhibition football match to herald the start of the impending 2020/2021 Ghana Premier League season.

 

The game, played at the Ndoum Sports Complex in Elmina, featured a plethora of Ghana’s ex-football stars who laced up their boots in a bid to garner greater interest in the upcoming domestic football season, roll back the years and also promote domestic and international tourism through football.

 

On the field of play, a select side from the Greater Accra Region defeated their colleagues from the Central/Western Region by 4 goals to 3.
Players who featured in the game included former Bayern Munich skipper, Samuel Osei Kuffuor, ex-Getafe midfield general, Derrick Boateng, Yaw Preko, Abubakr Damba, Felix Aboagye, Godwin Attram, Laryea Kingston, Nii Odartey Lamptey and Peter Ofori Quaye.
Former Fulham stalwart John Paintsil, Godwin Ablordey, Jerry Akaminko, Razak Ibrahim, Augustine Arhinful, Linda Eshun, Joe Hendricks and Stephen Baidoo were all in action on Sunday afternoon.

 

The landmark game was attended by top domestic football officials including GFA President Kurt Okraku, and General Secretary Prosper Harrison Addo, with Ghana Tourism Authority CEO Akwasi Agyeman and the Omanhene of the Edina Traditional Area, Nana Kodwo Condua VI among the many dignitaries in attendance.
