PFAG
Marks World Football Day 2026

On the 25th of May each year, the global football community commemorates World Football Day; a landmark occasion dedicated to celebrating football’s far-reaching contribution to sustainable development,
peace, human rights, and social inclusivity.

The observance of World Football Day dates back to the first-ever international football
tournament held during the 1924 Olympic Games in Paris, where teams from across
the world came together in the spirit of competition, unity, and mutual respect.

That historic moment laid the foundation for what has become the world’s most beloved and influential sport, inspiring generations and transcending borders and cultural backgrounds.

In Ghana, the Professional Footballers Association of Ghana (PFAG) continues to
champion the transformative power of football through its numerous advocacy ventures, player welfare, and impactful corporate social responsibility initiatives. As the mother body for professional footballers in Ghana, PFAG remains committed to protecting the rights and well-being of our players while promoting the values of solidarity, respect, equality, and social inclusivity in Ghana.

Through strategic partnership initiatives
and relevant community engagements,
the PFAG continues to harness football as a force for positive change. Our ventures continue to bring together people of all ages, backgrounds, and cultures through our shared passion for the world’s most beautiful and passionate game.

On this significant occasion, we at the PFAG
wish to extend our warmest well-wishes to all Ghanaian professional footballers, both at home and abroad. We encourage all stakeholders within the football fraternity to continue leveraging our game’s unique ability to drive development, promote peace, foster well-being, and build more inclusive and resilient societies here in Ghana and across the world.

As always, the PFAG stands with our players and for our players even as we join the rest of the world in celebrating World Football
Day!
