The ongoing efforts of the Professional Footballers Association of Ghana (PFAG) in championing the best interests of Ghanaian professional footballers has once again borne fruit as evidenced by the latest ruling communicated by the Court for Arbitration of Sport (CAS) in the case involving former Asante Kotoko striker Solomon Sarfo-Taylor.
CAS, the global institution mandated to facilitate settlement of all sports-related disputes through mediation, has ruled that the three year ban imposed on the former Asante Kotoko and Karela United striker by the Ghana Football Association be provisionally lifted.
The ban handed down by the GFA Disciplinary Committee on 15th April 2024 emanated from allegations of double registration and falsification of documents.
However, the PFAG as mother body for all Ghanaian professional footballers swiftly stepped in to play a key role in facilitating the filing of an appeal on the player’s behalf.
This CAS ruling has been graciously welcomed by the PFAG, as it signals an opportunity for our member to be reinstated so he can continue his professional football career pending a final determination on the matter.
As always the PFAG continues to stand with the players and for the players.
