Black Stars Starboy Mohammed Kudus has earned himself a much deserved nomination at the upcoming FIFA Best Football Awards night.
Our mercurial midfield maestro’s stunning individual goal in West Ham United’s UEFA Europa League victory over SC Freiburg has been shortlisted as the best goal scored in the entire 2023/2024 season.
Of all the awards to be handed out on the night, the Puskas Prize has emerged as arguably the most anticipated accolade to be announced due to the number of excellent goals from around the world in that calendar year.
Kudus’ nomination is a well deserved recognition for the sheer brilliance he brought to bear on the Hammers in his debut season for the East London based Premiership team.
He picked up possession 70 yards from the opponent’s goal, sprinted the length of the pitch, dribbling past three Freiburg defender before displaying a coolness and composure in front of goal by calmly slotting beyond the oncoming keeper and into the net!
The goal, which was adjudged the West Ham goal of the season, rubberstamped the Irons commanding 5-1 aggregate win and secured his team’s passage to the quarter finals of Europe’s second most prestigious interclub competition.
Kudus finds himself up against other impressive goals including Alejandro garnacho’s overhead kick for Manchester United against Everton and Jaden Philogen’s wonder goal in Hull FC’s EFL Championship win against Rotheram.
The PFAG congratulates Mohammed Kudus on this notable nomination, and wishes him the best in his bid to make history for himself and the nation. We also urge all fans to visit the official FIFA website and vote for our Starboy to scoop the Puskas Prize!
