The Professional Footballers Association of Ghana (PFAG) has sent out its warm congratulations to the U-20 national team as our Black Satellites secured a well-earned spot at the upcoming U-20 African Cup of Nations slated for next year.
The Satellites stepped up to the challenge posed at the WAFU Zone B Championships by emerging second in the keenly contested championship in Lome, Togo.
An opening day 2-2 draw against Benin, was followed by a well orchestrated 2-nil win aginst Niger. Top spot in Group A was secured with an important point against hosts, Togo.
The Satellites rubberstamped their ticket to face off against the continent’s best by chalking off a 2-1 triumph in their semi-final duel with the Young Elephants from the Ivory Coast.
Despite a loss in the final to Nigeria, the PFAG is elated at the exploits of our Satellites in nearby Lome over the course of this past fortnight.
We extend our congratulations to Coach Desmond Ofei and his technical team, and reserve special praise for all members of the playing body for displaying utmost dedication for the national course.
We wish the team well in their preparations for their appearance at the continental showpiece where a fifth U-20 AFCON title and a qualification slot at the U-20 World Cup in Chile next year should be high on the agenda.
As always, the PFAG stands with them and for them.
