The Professional Footballers Association of Ghana (PFAG) has noted with great pleasure the recent nominations accorded to three of the nation’s leading football stars by the select panel responsible for the 2024 CAF African Football Awards.
Young enterprising forward, Aziz Issah has deservedly received nominations in two categories for the upcoming Awards Night.
He has been shortlisted for recognition as CAF Inter-Club Player of the Year, as well as African Young Player of the Year.
These nominations only highlight the impressive exploits of our young talent whose pivotal role in Dream FC’s successful foray into last season’s CAF Confederations Cup Competition earned him a dream move to European powerhouses FC Barcelona.
His brilliance as a key member of the all-conquering Black Satellites team gives further credence to his nominations for continental recognition.
Dreams FC star striker John Antwi has also deservedly bagged a nomination in the CAF Inter-Club Player of the Year category.
Buoyed by the impressive six goals netted in his club’s debut campaign in the CAF Confederations Cup, Antwi has every right to be expectant of scooping home the award on offer.
Also staking a legitimate claim to an award on the night will be ex-Black Stars player and Head Coach Kwesi Appiah.
The Sudan national team manager has been recognised for his impressive tenure at the helm of the Jediane Falcons with a nomination in the Coach of the Year Category.
Appiah’s charges have risen in leaps and bounds since his appointment and he looks set to bring further honour to Ghana by claiming the top gaffer award.
Finally, last season’s FA Cup Champions Dreams FC have also been nominated for the CAF Inter-Club Team of the year award.
This nomination has been secured off the back of an impressive debut continental campaign last year, in which they remarkably reached the semi-final stage of CAF’s second most prestigious club competition.
The PFAG is pleased to note that the hard work and exemplary exploits of the country’s football stars continue to garner the recognition they deserve.
We congratulate all nominees and wish them well in their bid to claim the ultimate accolades on offer in their respective categories come the CAF Awards Night in December this year.
As always, the PFAG stands with them and for them!
