General Secretary of the Professional Footballers Association of Ghana (PFAG), Anthony Baffoe has challenged the next generation of African football talents to surmount all barriers as they aspire to reach the very zenith of the professional game.
In his speech delivered at the recently concluded 3rd Afro Sport Summit held at the College of Physicians and Surgeons in Accra, Mr. Baffoe outlined the arduous yet ultimately rewarding journey awaiting all young aspiring footballers on the continent.
The much celebrated football administrator who starred across Europe during his legendary career, focused his inspirational message on the immense potential that each and every individual possessed, regardless of their social upbringing or educational background. He went further to state that a lack of formal education should not serve as a hindrance to one’s dream of excelling in football or in any other field of endeavour.
The former skipper of the Black Stars Anthony Baffoe, was joined by a host of seasoned personalities in the football realms as well as ex professional players including Asamoah Gyan, Derek Boateng and Jerry Akaminko for the annual symposium which brings together various sports stakeholders from Africa and beyond to share ideas, engage in proactive discussions and collectively brainstorm in a unique networking setting dovetailing science and business.
Mr Baffoe also sounded a note of caution to the stars of tomorrow on the need to be vigilant with all contracts they appended their signatures to, as they could easily fall victim to unscrupulous and exploitative individuals if care is not taken.
He ended by encouraging the continent’s young stars to aim for the very top and seek professional guidance from reputable bodies, chief amongst which is the Professional Footballers Association of Ghana (PFAG).
As always, the PFAG stands with them and for them.
