The Professional Footballers Association of Ghana (PFAG) has extended its warm congratulations to freshly crowned betPawa Ghana Premier League champions, Medeama Sporting Club.
The Mauve and Yellow Warriors etched their names into the history books with a comfortable three-nil win over Tamale City FC in front of their teeming fans at the Akoon Community Park earlier on Sunday afternoon.
This memorable victory capped off a fine campaign for the Tarkwa-based club as they succesfully overcame stiff competition from Aduana Stars and Bechem United to emerge domestic champions for the first time in their history, while also securing themselves a ticket to next season’s lucrative CAF Champions League.
In a related development, the PFAG has also congratulated Bibiani Goldstars Centre Forward, Abednego Tetteh for winning the enviable Ghana Premier League Goal King Award.
The 32 year old netted an impressive 18 goals over the course of the season, and played a key role in guiding his team to a respectable fifth placed finish this year.
The Association also extends its commiserations to the trio of King Faisal FC, Kotoku Royals and Tamale City FC who suffered relegation from the country’s top flight this season.
We wish these teams well and encourage them as they refocus their attentions on securing a prompt return to the elite division.
Finally, the PFAG warmly welcomes the three deserving new entrants to the 2023/2024 Ghana Premier League season.
We cannot wait to see the exploits our members have in store for us all next season as they don the colours of Heart of Lions FC, Nations FC and Bofoakwa Tano.
The PFAG, as mother body for all professional footballers in the country, congratulates stakeholders, organizers, technical teams and fans for a successful betPawa Premier League season.
We reserve special commendation for all players of the various clubs who held their own over the course of this demanding season. We are indeed proud of the professionalism and excellent performances displayed by all our members, who remain the central figures in the sport we all love on the domestic scene.
