Ghana Black Queens strikers, Sherifatu Sumaila and Alice Kusi are among proud players who have won league trophies in various parts of the World. Striker Sherifatu Sumaila lifted the Israeli Ligat Al Women with her side Maccabi Kiryat Gat which will see them play in next season’s UEFA Women’s Champions League. The 24-year-old took to her twitter handle to celebrate her success.
”If you are grateful more blessings will follow. 2020/2021 League Champions. Qualified for @UWCL. Really grateful for how far God has brought us this season. Things were a little harder for me cos of minor injuries. Played through the pain and here I am a “Champion.” Two more games to go.”
Sherifatu Sumaila
Last month, she and her mates made history with Maccabi Kiryat Gat as they won the first-ever Israeli Athena Cup title. Sherifatu joined the Israeli side last year in October and have been in fine form this season.
Another Ghanaian International Alice Kusi who plays for Serbian side, ŽFK Spartak Subotica helped her club lift the championship cup for the 12th time in the history of the club. They ended the season undefeated with 23 wins in 24 games, one draw and a fantastic goal difference of 138 goals scored and only 4 conceded.
The former Fabulous Ladies player speaking exclusively to the PFAG website stated
“I am very excited to be here because this is the best women’s team in Serbia and winning this trophy means a lot to me. They have been representing the country in the UEFA women’s champions league. It feels good to be here and I am happy because I have made an impact and I am proud of myself as a player”
Alice Kusi
“Qualifying for the champions’ league means we have a lot of work ahead of us. This would be my first time playing in the champions’ league and I am looking forward to helping my team to achieve laurels” she concluded adding that this should inspire more female players to keep pushing for success.
