PFAG Out with “Battle Of The Queens” on Sunday ahead of 2020-2021 women’s premier league season

The Professional Footballers Association of Ghana (PFAG) in collaboration with ex Black Queens players led by former African Best female footballer Adwoa Bayor; is organizing a testimonial match
dubbed the ‘The battle of the Queens’ which is scheduled to come off on Sunday 10th January, 2021; 3:00pm at the McDan Town Park in Labadi.

 

The match is to acknowledge the achievements of the Black Queens Over the years and to encourage the girl child to develop interest in football. It’s also meant to promoting women football ahead of the 2020-2021 league season.

Several top Guests from the Media, ex footballers and current Black Queens players are expected to grace the occasion.

 

PFAG board member, Anita Wiredu-Mintah could not hide her joy saying

“ PFAG is for all Ghanaian players, including our ladies and this game is a way to highlight that fact.As a board member, I urge every female player to come on board, join the PFAG family and experience the enormous benefits associated with the union. We have more to offer as sports women and we are inspired to do more.”- she revealed
.

Yussif Chibsah, Head of Player Relations of PFAG added that:

”Women’s football is important to us at PFAG hence when the former Black Queens came to us with this project, we were excited to help and partner them because PFAG is for the players and the players are for PFAG.”

“This great initiative shall continue in addition to the many wonderful plans we have for women’s football and female players. Our doors are always opened for them and we are getting all of them on board. We are with them and for them so they shouldn’t hesitate to come to us.”-he added

He further urged female players in Ghana and outside to join PFAG for the Association is there to represent their interest and support them.

Former skipper of the Black Queens and 2003 CAF African Women Player of the Year Adjoa Bayor expressed her joy about the upcoming game.

“I am really excited about this game because this is the first of its kind in the country. We are all fully aware of the challenges and problems facing women’s football in Ghana . I believe this game will give the upcoming 2020-2021 women’s premier league the needed publicity and promotion it deserves.This is our little way of giving back to the very league that made us who we are today.”

The Ghana Women’s Premier League season is scheduled to kick off on Friday, January 15, 2021 across the country.
