Upper East RFA Boss To Organize Pre-Season Tournament for Women’s Clubs in the Region

Ahead of the start of the new league season, the Upper East Regional Football Association’s Chairman who also doubles as the GFA Referees Appointment Committee Capo, Mr Salifu Shaibu Zida is set to organize a Pre-Season tournament for registered women’s clubs in the Region.

 

The region which has more than ten(10) District Football Associations (DFAs) has fourteen women’s teams set to compete in the 2020/21 Lower Division League.

 

This initiative forms part of Salifu Zida’s plan to develop women’s football in Upper East Region and in Ghana as a whole, having seen talented footballers breed from the Northern part of the country.

 

The Executive Council Member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), in order to ensure this noble initiative becomes a success, directed the Upper East Regional women’s football chairman, Apalazoya Jesse to call all the team managers and coaches of the 14 qualified clubs in the Region for a meeting to discuss the standards and mode of play for the tournament.

 

On Thursday 29th October 2020, the meeting was held at the RFA office in Bolgatanga. In the meeting, the house agreed to zone the teams on their geographical locations at the qualification level, two teams shall qualify from Zone A and Zone B while one team each from Zone C and Zone D.

 

The preseason women’s tourney is scheduled to come off on the 14th and 15th of November 2020.

 

The qualified teams shall comprise 6 clubs. The top six(6) shall be played on the 21st and 22nd of November 2020 at the Zorko Senior High school Park.
