Ghana’s lead striker Jordan Ayew has capped off a fantastic 2019/2020 season by being crowned the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) Footballer of the Year.
The talismanic forward beat off competition from new Arsenal FC recruit Thomas Partey, and Jiangsu Suning midfield dynamo Mubarak Wakaso, in scooping up Ghana’s topmost individual football accolade.
Ayew enjoyed a stellar 2019/2020 campaign for Crystal Palace in the English Premier League, finishing the season as the club’s top scorer.
He was deservedly crowned as Palace Player of the season, Palace Players’ Player of the season and also bagged home the award for Palace goal of the season for his sublime last minute winning goal against West Ham United.
Kumasi Asante Kotoko Goalkeeper, Felix Annan was awarded for his impressive performances between the sticks for the Porcupine Warriors last season with the SWAG Local Footballer of the Year prize.
The PFAG continues to support all events which recognize the amazing efforts of all professional footballers in the country. It remains our belief that such recognition will go a long way to encourage our players to continue giving off their best for mother Ghana.
We wish to congratulate all winners and the awards organizers.
