Ghana’s glorious Black Queens have won the maiden WAFU Zone B Women’s Cup of Nations, after pipping host nation Cote d’Ivoire by a goal to nil in the grand finale on Saturday evening.
The Queens, who had earlier in the competition lost to the Ivorians by a similar score line before overrunning all other competitors, exacted sweet revenge on their hostesses courtesy of an early Janet Egyir strike.
To further underline their impressive domination in the 2 week sub-regional competition, Striker Portia Boakye emerged as ‘Goal-queen’ with 4 goals, and Janet Egyir was unanimously adjudged the Player of the Tournament.
For Head Coach Mercy Tagoe-Quarcoo, a former top FIFA licensed referee, this victory is certainly a feather in her cap.
The PFAG is elated at this great feat chalked by our Black Queens. We extend our plaudits to the entire management, technical bench and the gallant members of the playing body.
The PFAG remains with you and for you!
