{"id":3004,"date":"2021-01-19T20:30:24","date_gmt":"2021-01-19T20:30:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pfag.com.gh\/?p=3004"},"modified":"2021-01-19T20:30:24","modified_gmt":"2021-01-19T20:30:24","slug":"black-queens-captain-elizabeth-addo-signs-contract-with-nc-courage","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pfag.com.gh\/index.php\/2021\/01\/19\/black-queens-captain-elizabeth-addo-signs-contract-with-nc-courage\/","title":{"rendered":"Black Queens Captain Elizabeth Addo Signs Contract with NC Courage"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Captain of the Ghana Women\u2019s Senior National Team, Elizabeth Addo has secured a one-year contract with a one-year option with North Carolina Courage Women\u2019s Team (NC Courage) in the United States of America.<\/p>\n<p>The former player of the OL Reign (formerly Seattle Reign) has been praised by the head coach of NC Courage Paul Riley who describes the forward as \u201cskillful, clever, and has the pace to burn\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on Elizabeth\u2019s move to the team, Paul Riley notes<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cShe has the game-changing ability and has NWSL experience already which is important for her in adapting to our style of play. Her good soccer mind and fabulous feet make her a handful for opponents. She will revel in the challenges of our training environment and the fans will have another individual talent to admire.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>About Elizabeth Addo<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>She joins NC Courage from Apollon Limassol where she was on a short-term contract. Prior to playing for the Cypriot First Division team, she was a member of the Chinese team Jiangsu Suning, champions of the Chinese Women\u2019s Super League. The forward helped the team win three major titles, scoring five goals and having seven assists in 14 games.<\/p>\n<p>Elizabeth signed a contract with the Boston Breakers after the 2017 National Women&#8217;s Soccer League (NWSL) season just before the team folded. She was then chosen by the Reign during the 2018 NWSL Expansion Draft. During her time with OL Reign, Addo made 13 appearances, eight of which were starts. She had one assist with the team.<\/p>\n<p>She made her first appearance with the Black Queens in 2016 after playing 38 games and scoring 17 goals with the U-20 team, Black Princesses. Last two years she was named the Ghana Women\u2019s Footballer of the Year. She captained the Ghana Women\u2019s National Team last year and led the team to win third place in the Turkish Women\u2019s Cup and defeated Morocco in two international friendlies held in Ghana.
